Allow me to introduce myself: I am John Weber, President of CooperVision. For those who are accessing our web site for the first time, welcome! If you are a returning visitor, welcome back!

At CooperVision, we strive to offer you a refreshing perspective – one that truly sets us apart. While this goal has always been part of our “company DNA,” it is something that we have recommitted ourselves to and enhanced during the past several years.

With the launch of our revamped web site, I thought it might interest you to learn a bit about how we got to this point.

But before I begin, I have to make the point that our journey is not one of a company; it is one of a collection of individuals who have come together on a single mission. All around the globe, employees of CooperVision continue to rally together to provide the best contact lenses we can deliver—both to our wearers and our partners in the field of eye care. I can’t help but marvel at the dedication of our employees worldwide.

CooperVision’s Origins

To get the full picture of CooperVision’s origins, we need to refer back to our parent company, The Cooper Companies, Inc., and its long history dating back to 1958, when it started as Martin H. Smith Co.

Later, in 1967, the company name changed to “Cooper Laboratories, Inc.” Then, in 1978, the company reorganized into independent business units: Cooper Laboratories, CooperVision, Cooper Dental, Cooper Medical Devices, and Cooper International. Finally, in 1980, CooperVision was incorporated and went public in 1983.

As with all organizations, The Cooper Companies has seen both good times and challenging times. I am a firm believer that great companies learn from challenging times and create a culture that endures and aligns. CooperVision is a product of that positive culture.

Growing a Company Requires the Right Nurturing

As the contact lens industry grew in the 1980s and 90s, we had to make plenty of decisions on how to grow our business while maintaining the high performance and quality contact lenses we had built our reputation on. We knew the industry was changing, and to continue to serve our wearers and eye care providers, we would need to differentiate our company.

We made several acquisitions that enabled us to expand our product offering into what would become the widest offering of contact lens products in the industry. From special custom lenses to lenses that help with common eye problems, we wanted to offer our wearers and eye care providers a quality lens for their needs.

All of this drives us to our main purpose: To help improve the way people see each day.

Our Future Moving Forward…

As we moved into the 21st century and chart our path forward, I am proud to say that our reach extends all the way around the world. CooperVision’s products are sold in over 100 countries. We have a large research and development staff committed to developing the very best products and a manufacturing team focused on quality. And most importantly, a sales and customer service team that never stops striving to ensure you enjoy a great experience every time you interact with us.

Each day, our employees collaborate to provide the best contact lenses we can possibly deliver to you, whether you’re a contact lens wearer or an eye care provider.

And we strive to do this, not as a company, but as a collection of individuals coming together as a team with a single mission of helping you see better.

In this spirit, please take a look around the revamped web site. See what you think. We hope you’ll enjoy the new features we have for you. There are many more on the way, so visit us often!
